Reconsideration and Appeals

Individuals who have been denied boarding can apply to Transport Canada’s Office of Reconsideration (OOR) to have the decision reversed. The OOR will conduct an independent review of the process and outline the basis for placing this person on the specified-persons list.

In addition to the OOR, individuals also have the option of appealing to the Security Intelligence Review Committee, the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP or the Canadian Human Rights Commission. Finally, individuals may choose to pursue the matter by way of judicial review in the Federal Court.
